The IIS La Fe and the Catholic University of Valencia will develop joint research and health innovation projects
Through the I Convocatoria de Ayudas UCV-La Fe 2023 for researchers from both institutions.
The Catholic University of Valencia (UCV) and the La Fe Health Research Institute (IIS La Fe) will collaborate in research, technological development and innovation activities in the field of health for the staff of both entities. This is stated in the agreement signed by the Rector of the UCV, José Manuel Pagán, and by the Managing Director of the IIS La Fe, Ainhoa Genovés. The UCV is the first private university to sign an agreement of this kind with the IIS La Fe.
By virtue of this agreement, the interaction and collaboration between the research staff and professionals of the HUP/IIS La Fe and the groups belonging to the UCV will be promoted and encouraged through initiatives of different kinds and economic aid for the implementation of joint research and innovation projects - both national and international - as well as for the organisation of seminars, conferences and congresses.
This Thursday, May 4, the I Convocatoria de Ayudas UCV-La Fe 2023 has been published to support and promote preparatory actions in which personnel from both institutions participate in a joint and coordinated manner, as well as to strengthen collaboration between their research personnel. The first phase, until 22 May, will be for the presentation of ideas; the second phase, between 22 May and 9 June, will be for the submission of applications.
According to Francisco Arteaga, UCV Vice Rector for Research, "IIS La Fe has previously established similar collaborations with public universities in the Valencian Community, so it is an important milestone that UCV is the first social initiative university to join this initiative, which will serve to connect our basic science researchers with clinical researchers. I am sure that this collaboration will serve to achieve synergies between our institutions and our researchers, with complementary capacities and resources, who will be able to obtain more and better research results, to the benefit of people's well-being and health.
Arteaga also thanked IIS La Fe for "the opportunity to connect our researchers with theirs, to share objectives and developments that will undoubtedly lead us to reach new levels of knowledge and broaden the scope and social utility of our research. I hope that this agreement will serve as the beginning of a lasting relationship, full of collaborations that will bear fruit in results that can be transferred to society".
For his part, the scientific director of the IIS La Fe, Dr. Guillermo Sanz, acknowledged that the agreement "will contribute to extending new collaborations and alliances with UCV researchers, with whom we already have a relationship in other areas. This agreement will allow us to broaden the focus of collaboration by focusing on innovation and transfer, with the creation of multidisciplinary teams that are capable of responding to the needs detected through the generation of innovative health technologies in collaboration.
With the launch of this new collaboration, the Catholic University of Valencia continues with its objective of promoting and strengthening the quality scientific production of its teaching and research staff (PDI), aware of the importance of this as a factor of personal, institutional and social development. For its part, the IIS La Fe, expands an extensive network of collaborators that will generate health inventions, promoting a real and effective transfer to the business community.
El acuerdo contribuirá a extender nuevas colaboraciones y alianzas con los investigadores de la UCV
