Accreditation and certification
IIS La Fe is an internationally recognised centre for the excellence of its research. Since 2009 it has been accredited by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III. It has also been recognised for its quality and innovation management and excellence in human resources, among other accreditations and certifications.
ISCIII accreditation
The IIS La Fe was accredited as a Health Research Institute (IIS) by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) in 2009. This accreditation recognises the translational research of excellence carried out at the centre. IIS La Fe was one of the first 5 centres in Spain to be accredited and has renewed its accreditation in 2014, 2019 and 2024, according to Royal Decree 339/2004, of 27 February, on the accreditation of health research institutes.
Innovation Management Systems
The IIS La Fe first implemented and certified its Innovation Management System in 2016. Since then, it has maintained this system, successfully passing external certification audits. Initially, the system was certified in accordance with the UNE 166002 standard for R&D&I Management, but it has now been aligned with the requirements of the ISO 56001 Innovation Management System standard, published in September 2024.
The scope of IIS La Fe's Innovation Management System includes innovation projects in products, processes, services, and/or business models developed within the Institute, as well as collaborative initiatives aimed at developing innovative solutions that generate improvements and add value in the healthcare field.

HRS4R
IIS La Fe received in 2015 the European seal of excellence 'HR Excellence in Research'. This recognition reflects our commitment to continuous improvement of our human resources policies in line with the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the recruitment of prestigious researchers.
UCC+I
Since February 2021, IIS La Fe has been part of the Network of Units of Scientific Culture and Innovation (UCC+i) as an accredited member of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECyT).
