La Fe Health Research Institute hosts PhD Day dedicated to the researchers of the future

64 young researchers from the 54 research groups of IIS La Fe share their work in the first event of its kind to be held in the field of health research in the Valencian Community.

La Fe Health Research Institute (IIS La Fe) has hosted the second edition of the PhD Day dedicated to the young researchers of the center who are developing their doctoral thesis in the different research groups of the institution.

In total, 64 young researchers from the 54 research groups of IIS La Fe shared their work in the first event of this kind to be held in the field of health research in the Valencian Community.

From children's ophthalmology, hematology, pediatric cancer or rare diseases, through research in bioengineering and stem cells, breast cancer, hepatology, mental health or assisted reproduction, the young researchers of IIS La Fe have submitted their doctoral work to a scientific committee that has evaluated them throughout the event.

The conference included a keynote lecture by Dr. Miguel Ángel Moreno, biologist and geneticist at the Andalusian Center for Developmental Biology, who acted as sponsor of the conference with a talk on CRISPR-Cas Optimizations and their applications to understand early embryonic development and human diseases.

The scientific director of IIS La Fe, Dr. Guillermo Sanz, stressed that the PhD Day is an opportunity for these researchers, who are carrying out advanced studies and contributing to the advancement of knowledge in their respective areas, to show their work to the scientific community and society in general.

PhD Day IIS La Fe offers young researchers the possibility to present their research projects in a professional environment, allows them to network with other scientists, receive constructive feedback and establish future collaborations.

In addition, this event also promotes the dissemination of scientific knowledge and encourages the exchange of ideas among participants. Researchers can learn from the research of their peers, discover new perspectives and approaches, and acquire knowledge in related areas that can enrich their own work.

Successful participation and sponsorship

In addition to the 64 participants, there were the 19 members of the scientific committee, in charge of evaluating the talks and posters; the 16 people who made up the organizing committee and who ensured the smooth running of the day; and more than 100 attendees who did not want to miss this event, which this year has become one of the most important events of La Fe Health Research Institute. Thus, the Auditorium of the La Fe Hospital welcomed more than 200 people who accompanied us throughout the day.

This year, PhD Day has also counted with the collaboration of different companies that have joined as sponsors and have made it possible to carry out this small congress of predoctoral and master students. During the first edition, the College of Nursing of Valencia and the company that collaborates with IIS La Fe, TheWhiteam, sponsored two awards, a sponsorship that we have also counted on this time.

These two institutions have been joined by 9 other companies that have collaborated in the organization of this conference: Novartis, Miltenyi, Masimo, Little Thai, Health in Code, Promega, Nzytech, Sumilab, Condalab and STEMCELL.
