IIS La Fe hosts the ESPGHAN summer school and brings together 35 young researchers in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition

ESPGHAN is the European Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition

35 trainees from different European countries, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Cambodia and South Africa are attending these training days, from June 29th to July 1st. The aim of the ESPGHAN SUMMER SCHOOL is to promote best practices in the delivery of pediatric gastroenterology care, focusing on the most prevalent and/or most severe disorders. This summer school is intended for an audience of young medical professionals who wish to develop expertise, or have a current interest, in the management of gastrointestinal disorders in children.

The meeting will combine keynote lectures by international experts with clinical case presentations by delegates, encouraging critical debate and maximum interaction between delegates and faculty.

Dr. Carmen Ribes, emeritus researcher of the Celiac Disease and Digestive Immunopathology Research Group, highlighted the importance of bringing together so many young researchers at IIS La Fe. She also pointed out that although the different sessions will pay special attention to the management of the disease in daily clinical practice, other aspects such as etiology, pathogenesis, future directions and therapies and lines of research in this area will also be discussed in depth.
