IIS La Fe secures more than 6 million euros from the Strategic Action in Health (ISCIII) and consolidates its position as a regional benchmark in national funding acquisition

This funding, which includes grants for human resources and national biomedical research projects, as well as international projects and innovation projects (DTS), has resulted in 25 grants awarded. These results reflect the scientific strength of the proposals submitted by IIS La Fe and its high competitiveness in national calls. In addition, they consolidate IIS La Fe as the centre with the highest level of funding obtained in the Valencian Community.
Human resources: training, consolidation and strategic profiles
In the field of national human resources grants, IIS La Fe has obtained a total of 2,651,740 euros, which will reinforce all stages of the research career, from predoctoral training to consolidation and stabilization of research staff, as well as incorporating key profiles to support scientific excellence.
In the predoctoral training phase, five PFIS contracts have been awarded, reaching the maximum possible number, together with one IPFIS contract, also with a 100% success rate. These grants represent a total of 687,735 euros and support research training linked to competitive projects.
Regarding postdoctoral grants, IIS La Fe has obtained two Sara Borrell contracts and three Río Hortega contracts for specialist physicians. Both programmes support the incorporation and professional development of researchers within the healthcare system and amount to 385,000 euros in funding.
One of the most significant milestones corresponds to the Miguel Servet contracts, which concentrate a substantial part of the funding and help stabilise researchers with consolidated careers. In this regard, IIS La Fe has achieved the highest number of awards since its creation, with four contracts granted out of a maximum of five, representing an 80% success rate and 1,234,400 euros in funding. This result places IIS La Fe as the centre with the highest number of Miguel Servet contracts awarded in Spain.
IIS La Fe has also obtained two grants to incorporate strategic profiles, including one position for research management in health and one bioinformatics profile, totalling 140,700 euros and strengthening scientific support and advanced data management.
Within the intensification programme, two grants have been awarded out of a maximum of three, reaching a 66.7% success rate and 120,000 euros, facilitating a balance between clinical and research activity.
With regard to mobility, IIS La Fe has obtained four M-AES grants out of five applications submitted and one M-BAE grant, totalling 83,905 euros, thereby promoting collaboration and scientific mobility.
International projects and innovation
The AES 2025 call has also enabled IIS La Fe to obtain funding for international projects, with one proposal submitted and awarded, reaching a 100% success rate and totalling 999,011 euros.
In the field of innovation (DTS projects), one project has been awarded out of two submitted, representing a 50% success rate, with funding amounting to 139,990.95 euros.
A strategic boost for health research
IIS La Fe has reached the maximum number of grants possible in several modalities, showing the quality of the proposals submitted and their alignment with national healthcare priorities.
Overall, the more than 6 million euros obtained will strengthen talent, drive innovation and consolidate the institute's international projection, contributing to the development of excellent health research in service of citizens.
