La Fe Health Research Institute highlights the importance of breast milk in neonatal nutrition through an event bringing together donor mothers and healthcare professionals
The initiative brought together donor mothers, families, healthcare professionals and researchers to raise awareness of the impact of human milk donation and bring neonatal nutrition research closer to the public.
The Health Research Institute La Fe (IIS La Fe) has held a new edition of its 'Tu Hospital Investiga' initiative, an event that brought together donor mothers, families, healthcare professionals and researchers to pay tribute to women who donate breast milk and to showcase advances in neonatal nutrition research.

The event brought together donor mothers, recipient families, healthcare professionals and researchers in a shared space where the importance of donated breast milk in neonatology was highlighted, particularly in the care of premature babies and newborns with special medical needs.
Throughout the event, a range of science communication activities took place, including testimonies from donor mothers and recipient families, as well as opportunities for professionals and attendees to exchange experiences related to the donation process and its impact on neonatal health.
The programme also included workshops and informative sessions on nutrition in neonatal intensive care units, the composition of breast milk and the human milk donation process, as well as awareness-raising activities aimed at families.

The event was attended by professionals and research teams involved in neonatal care and infant nutrition research at IIS La Fe, together with collaborating organisations committed to promoting breastfeeding and human milk donation.
The event was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Neonatology Department and the Human Milk Bank of Hospital La Fe, the Perinatology Research Group of IIS La Fe, the Human Milk Bank of the Valencian Community, and the associations Amamanta and iHAN.
