IIS La Fe present at JAIMA 2023 with artificial intelligence taking center stage

The 11th edition of the Open Day of Advanced Medical Imaging 2023, aimed at medical and technical staff, students, and patient associations, commemorates World Radiology Day

The scientific director, Guillermo Sanz, and the managing director of the La Fe Health Research Institute (IIS La Fe), Ainhoa Genovés, have inaugurated the Open Day of Advanced Medical Imaging 2023 (JAIMA 2023), which, in this edition, has addressed the importance of Artificial Intelligence applied to medical imaging. They were joined by the Director General of Research and Innovation, Mariola Penadés, the manager of the La Fe University and Polytechnic Hospital, José Luis Poveda, and the head of the Biomedical Imaging Research Group (GIBI 230), Dr. Luis Martí-Bonmatí.

This event is organized every year by the Clinical Area of Medical Imaging (ACIM) of the La Fe University and Polytechnic Hospital in collaboration with the Biomedical Imaging Research Group (GIBI230) and QUIBIM.

Dr. Sanz and Dr. Genovés emphasized the importance of medical imaging and the evolution of artificial intelligence in the field of health as a fundamental element to improve diagnosis and medical care. They also highlighted the work carried out by the research group led by Dr. Luis Martí-Bonmatí.

'JAIMA 2023: Medical Imaging, Artificial Intelligence, and Health' has highlighted the advances and importance that medical imaging has experienced thanks to the implementation of Artificial Intelligence in the field of health. Using clear language, free of technical jargon and directed at all audiences, professionals in this field of medicine presented to healthcare professionals, students, and patients the advances in medical imaging in this area.

Great reception from the audience

This day, which, as every year, coincides with the commemoration of the International Day of Radiology celebrated on November 8, has been well-received, with the attendance of 400 people in the auditorium of the La Fe University and Polytechnic Hospital. Another part of the audience followed the event virtually through the GVA Channel, thus complying with the capacity of the venue.

The Open Day of Advanced Medical Imaging (JAIMA) was established in 2013 with the aim of raising awareness among the population about the importance of medical imaging, the role of specialists in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, and the technological contributions that are continuously implemented and carried out in the service of the patient.
