The IV Business Innovation Conference at IIS La Fe promotes oncological innovation and collaboration between science, business, and society
La Fe Health Research Institute (IIS La Fe) held the IV Business Innovation Conference, an event focused this year on oncological innovation as a driver of scientific, technological, and social development. The conference brought together researchers, companies, and collaborators to share advances in therapies, transfer projects, and new models of public-private collaboration.
During the opening, IIS La Fe's Scientific Director, Dr. Pilar Nos, emphasized that "innovation is an essential part of the research cycle, as it allows us to transform scientific results into real improvements for patients." Similarly, Dr. José Luis Poveda, Manager of the Interdepartmental Health Group (ASI) Valencia Sur, highlighted the importance of "enhancing knowledge transfer, because innovating in health means creating the future, especially in a field like cancer."

Mariola Penadés, Director General of Innovation and Research at the Regional Ministry of Health, stressed "the importance of promoting synergies between research centers, hospitals, and institutions, as only through collaboration can we move toward more precise and sustainable medicine."
The program included presentations from the spin-off RI Medical, launched by IIS La Fe, as well as three new oncology patents related to cytokine inhibitors, therapeutic nanoparticles, and immunomodulatory nanoplatforms. Projects such as CART84, a clinical trial based on CAR-T therapies for acute leukemias, and VALENTINA, focused on validating advanced medical imaging technologies, were also presented.

Key Institutional Participation
The conference reinforced the role of collaboration between scientific and social entities as a driver of innovation. In this context, Sofía Cabezudo, Head of Innovation at the Scientific Foundation of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), emphasized the need to "strengthen the cancer technology transfer cycle and shorten the distance between the lab and the patient."

Juan Miguel Cejalvo, emerging researcher at the INCLIVA Research Institute, presented the success story of HER2DX, a biomedical innovation tool that exemplifies the impact of translational research and interinstitutional cooperation.
After four editions, the Business Innovation Conference at IIS La Fe has established itself as a key space for promoting connections between biomedical research, the business environment, and healthcare institutions, fostering an open innovation ecosystem in service of health.
