JAIMA 2025 brings together more than 400 professionals to reflect on excellence in medical imaging
Under the theme ‘Journey to Excellence: Embark with Us’, the event organised by the Medical Imaging Area of Hospital La Fe and IIS La Fe addressed the challenges and opportunities of innovation in medical imaging, training, and computing applied to health.
The Open Advanced Medical Imaging Conference (JAIMA 2025), organised by the Clinical Area of Medical Imaging in collaboration with the Biomedical Imaging Research Group of the La Fe Health Research Institute (IIS La Fe), has become a key meeting point for professionals, researchers, educators, and students interested in the latest advances in medical imaging applied to clinical practice and research.
Under the theme ‘Journey to Excellence: Embark with Us’, the event brought together more than 400 attendees, 340 attended in person and 100 followed the event via the GVA channel, and featured specialists from various hospital services and research platforms, who shared experiences in technological innovation, education, and clinical management.

The opening session was attended by José Luis Poveda, General Director of the Interdepartmental Health Group (ASI) Valencia South; Pilar Nos, Scientific Director of the La Fe Health Research Institute (IIS La Fe); and Luis Martí-Bonmatí, Director of the Clinical Area of Medical Imaging at Hospital La Fe. They all highlighted the importance of medical imaging as a driver of excellence and as a bridge between healthcare, education, and research.
Cross-disciplinary collaboration and commitment to information security
During the first part of the conference, speakers addressed excellence in training within medical imaging, including residency programmes and the continuous development of healthcare professionals. Later, a roundtable discussion focused on educational innovation and continuous improvement in clinical practice.
The second part of the programme presented prototypes, equipment, and research projects developed in advanced medical imaging, highlighting the role of the scientific and technological platforms at IIS La Fe in promoting translational research. Experiences related to data management, computing, and advanced image analysis also showcased the growing integration of artificial intelligence and bioinformatics in the hospital environment.

In addition, Mariola Penadés, Director General of Research and Innovation, took part in a second panel on excellence in research, where she expressed her gratitude to all the stakeholders involved in research for their work.
Participation and keynote lecture
The programme included a presentation by Ángela Pérez, CEO of Health in Code, who gave a talk about her personal experiences throughout her professional career.

The event concluded with the presentation of awards and acknowledgements to professionals who have contributed to excellence and innovation in the field of medical imaging, along with special recognition for the technical and research teams involved.
