La Fe Health Research Institute promotes new initiatives to raise the visibility of women researchers on the occasion of 11F and 8M

A social media video narrated by researchers' relatives brings science closer in an accessible and emotional way

An Instagram campaign highlights the challenges faced by women scientists at different stages of their careers

On the occasion of 11 February, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, and 8 March, the International Women's Day, the Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria La Fe (IIS La Fe) has launched several initiatives aimed at increasing the visibility of women in research and fostering scientific vocations among younger generations.

These actions are part of the centre's commitment to promoting equality in the scientific field and generating female role models to inspire girls and young women, in line with previous initiatives that have brought science closer to society and the educational environment.

Science through the eyes of the new generations

Among the most notable initiatives this year is the creation and dissemination of a social media video in which daughters and nieces of IIS La Fe researchers explain, from their own perspective, what scientific work is like and what it means to pursue a career in research.

Through an accessible and outreach-oriented format, the video presents "instructions for becoming a scientist", highlighting curiosity, effort and a vocation for research. The piece aims to convey science in a way that is accessible, emotional and inspiring for all audiences.

Highlighting the challenges faced by women researchers at each career stage

In addition, to mark 8M, IIS La Fe has developed an Instagram campaign based on informative posts focused on the main challenges faced by women researchers throughout their scientific careers.

The initiative gathers testimonies and reflections from professionals at different levels -R1, R2, R3 and R4- offering a comprehensive view of the evolution of a research career and of the barriers that still persist in the scientific field.

Commitment to equality and inspiring future women scientists

With this set of actions, IIS La Fe reinforces its commitment to science communication from a gender perspective and to the creation of role models that contribute to reducing the existing gap in science.

Through innovative initiatives adapted to new communication channels, the centre continues working to bring research closer to society and to inspire scientific vocations among future generations, promoting a more inclusive and diverse science.
