The IIS La Fe PhD Day brings together 66 scientific contributions and reinforces its commitment to predoctoral research talent

The La Fe Health Research Institute (IIS La Fe) has held the fifth edition of the PhD Day, a consolidated event that serves as a meeting point for the institute's predoctoral researchers. The initiative promotes scientific dissemination, knowledge exchange, and training in the communication of research results within an academic and healthcare environment.

In this edition, the meeting has brought together young researchers from different areas of the institute, who have presented a total of 66 scientific contributions, including 45 posters and 21 oral communications, reflecting the ongoing research activity and the diversity of research lines at IIS La Fe.

During the event, PhD candidates, as well as Master's (TFM) and Bachelor's (TFG) students affiliated with the centre, have had the opportunity to present their results to the institute's scientific community, as well as to receive feedback from senior researchers, fostering learning, improving scientific communication skills, and generating synergies between research groups.

An inspiring perspective on the research career

This fifth edition has featured a very special guest speaker, postdoctoral researcher from the Biomarkers and Precision Medicine Unit at IIS La Fe, Juan Carlos García Cañaveras. During his talk, he shared his scientific and professional trajectory, which began at IIS La Fe in 2009 as a summer intern, and offered a reflection on the challenges and opportunities of a research career. His testimony highlighted the importance of perseverance, collaboration, and knowledge transfer as key pillars for developing excellent research.

The PhD Day is part of IIS La Fe initiatives aimed at promoting young research talent, offering a space for the first experience of scientific presentation in a professional setting, with the goal of strengthening communication skills and supporting research career development.

This edition has been supported by Thermo Fisher Scientific, Novogene, Nzytech, and Werfen, which accompanied the event and were present during the poster sessions, contributing to the development and visibility of the initiative.
