La Fe Health Research strengthens Primary Care research with the creation of Impacta La Fe
La Fe Health Research Institute (IIS La Fe) has established a new emerging research group focused on Primary and Community Care. Named Impacta La Fe (Multidisciplinary Research in Primary Care, Community Care and Healthcare Transformation), the group has been created to strengthen research in Primary Care and generate scientific evidence that contributes to improving population health and the quality of healthcare.
The creation of this group represents a strategic step towards consolidating research in Primary Care, the first level of healthcare, where most of the population's health needs are addressed. Primary Care plays a key role in disease prevention, early diagnosis, the follow-up of patients with chronic conditions and the promotion of healthy lifestyles. Promoting research in this setting makes it possible to generate scientific evidence directly linked to everyday clinical practice and to provide more effective responses to the current challenges facing healthcare systems.
During the presentation of Impacta La Fe, attended by the Scientific Director of IIS La Fe, Pilar Nos, and the Deputy Scientific Director, Judith Márquez, Ana Egea, Medical Director of Primary Care at the Valencia La Fe Health Department and head of the group, highlighted the importance of promoting research in Primary Care.
"Primary Care offers a unique opportunity to generate knowledge that can improve clinical practice and population health. Through Impacta La Fe, we aim to foster a strong research culture capable of addressing challenges such as chronic diseases, ageing, prevention and health equity," she said.

Research to transform Primary Care
The group brings together professionals from medicine, paediatrics, nursing, physiotherapy, social work, pharmacy and other healthcare disciplines. Its multidisciplinary nature will enable health challenges to be addressed from a comprehensive perspective, fostering collaboration among different professional profiles and promoting highly applicable clinical and community-based research projects.
Its main research areas include chronic disease management, prevention, health promotion and community health, continuity of care, and research into health outcomes and healthcare quality.
Research with an impact on clinical practice and the community
Over the next five years, the group will work to consolidate a stable Primary and Community Care research structure, increase scientific output, attract competitive research funding and promote the recruitment of new researchers. It will also strengthen methodological training for healthcare professionals, encourage participation in national and international collaborative projects, and facilitate the transfer of research findings into clinical practice and the community.
With the creation of Impacta La Fe, IIS La Fe continues to expand its research ecosystem and reinforces its commitment to excellence in biomedical research, transforming knowledge into tangible improvements in clinical practice, healthcare decision-making and population health.
