IIS La Fe hosts AVAEH’s 25th anniversary at a meeting bringing together patients, researchers and healthcare professionals
The event highlights collaborative research and the active role of patients and associations in scientific progress
The La Fe Health Research Institute (IIS La Fe) has hosted the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Valencian Association of Huntington's Disease Patients (AVAEH) with a conference that brought together patients, families, researchers and healthcare professionals in a space for exchange, dialogue and scientific updates on this neurodegenerative disease.
The event served to highlight AVAEH's trajectory over the past 25 years, as well as to strengthen collaboration between the scientific community and those affected, a key link for advancing knowledge and the management of Huntington's disease.
During the event, some of the latest advances in research were presented. These included the development of the international EnrollHD 2.0 project, aimed at improving longitudinal data collection and patient follow-up, a fundamental element for promoting new studies. In addition, results from research focusing on the role of lipids and polymorphisms were shared, opening new lines of knowledge on the progression of the disease, a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; } that are being carried out by the Molecular, Cellular and Genomic Biomedicine research group.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to share clinical updates, including the presentation of a new clinical trial for Huntington's disease, offering a hopeful outlook for the development of future therapies.
A close and participatory environment
Beyond the scientific content, the event fostered a close and participatory environment, facilitating direct dialogue between researchers, healthcare professionals and patients, and highlighting the importance of collaborative research and the humanisation of science.
By hosting this commemoration, IIS La Fe reaffirms its commitment to biomedical research and to promoting initiatives that integrate patients and associations into the scientific process, thus contributing to improving the quality of life of people affected by neurodegenerative diseases.

The celebration of this 25th anniversary consolidates AVAEH's role as a reference organisation in supporting patients and families, and reinforces the need to continue moving forward together in research, care and social awareness.
